The city’s early success as a transportation center helped the warehouse Nebraska and manufacturing industries thrive. Its warehousing district was located near the Missouri River, which brought goods via steamboat from Kansas City and St. Louis, as well as by railroads from points east. There are also several smaller scale shopping areas throughout the city, such as the Regency Court Mall and One Pacific Place.
Nebraska is also known for its corn, which can be found in a number of delicious dishes and beverages. One example is the scrumptious corn ice cream, a unique treat made at local creameries like Ted and Wally’s in Omaha.
