Carpets add comfort and warmth to homes, but they also trap dirt, odors and harmful mites. The dust and other debris that collects in the fibres of carpet cleaning woking will not only make them look dingy, but can also shorten their life, and lead to health problems for people with allergies and respiratory issues. Regular vacuuming and cleaning up spills will not prevent these problems, so getting your carpets cleaned is essential.
What absorbs moisture in carpet?
There are a number of ways to clean carpets but the most effective is hot water extraction. This method uses high pressure water combined with a cleaning solution to loosen and then remove the dirt, stains and other residue. This is the preferred cleaning method by most carpet manufacturers. It is very efficient and can be used on both synthetic and natural fibres.
A preconditioner is first applied, which may be an alkaline solution for synthetic fibres or a mild acidic solution such as diluted acetic acid for woollen fibres. The carpet is then agitated using either a grooming brush or an automatic scrubbing machine. Finally, a pressurized manual or automatic cleaning tool known as a wand passes over the surface to rinse out all pre-conditioner, detergent, dirt and particulates.
Other household carpet cleaning processes include shampooing (usually with rotary machines) and dry cleaning. Shampooing was widely used before encapsulation became widespread, and can be very effective as a supplement to steam or hot water extraction. For wool and other natural fibres, however, shampoos leave a sticky or foamy residue that can actually attract dirt and cause carpet to get dirty faster than before the cleaning.
